LOS ANGELES - Michael Jackson's family has confirmed that a memorial service will take place at 10 a.m. on Tuesday at Staples Center in downtown Los Angeles.
A total of 11,000 tickets will be distributed for the event free of charge.
Earlier Thursday, the LA Times reported that five sources have said that authorities are drawing up plans for a massive law enforcement deployment Tuesday morning.
E! Entertainment reported that Jackson's body is being held at Los Angeles' Forest Lawn Cemetery and may be buried there, though the family has yet to file a death certificate, which is required prior to burial.
Family spokesman Ken Sunshine announced Wednesday that the family does plan a public service, but not at Neverland . The statement ended days of speculation over farewell plans involving the ranch.
Sunshine said, "Contrary to previous news reports, the Jackson family is officially stating that there will be no public or private viewing at Neverland."
The Associated Press reported late Wednesday that billionaire Thomas Barrack, who owns Neverland in a joint venture with Jackson, sought an exemption to bury the singer at the ranch. But because that exemption is a complicated process, it couldn't be done for a burial this week.
In a famous scene from Michael Jackson's music video for "Smooth Criminal," the pop singer and his troupe of dancers are seen leaning forward at a 45-degree angle. How did he do it?
Also scams started cropping up as Jackson's death was still hitting the news. As days have gone by, they've gotten more sophisticated -- and dangerous.
A Michael Jackson tribute concert may happen before September according to one report. And the Patriots NFL football team can thank Michael Jackson for their recent success.
