Mike Ahern, former anchor for WISH-TV, brought to his duties the community perspective gained from growing up in Central Indiana and reporting its news for nearly forty years. One of the many things Mike was best known for were his one-one-on interviews. From asking former IU Head Basketball Coach Bobby Knight the tough questions, to sharing a laugh with Walter Cronkite, Mike has a unique interviewing style that appeals to audiences.

In addition to being the primary anchor for 24-Hour News 8, Mike co-authored a humorous novel about television news, "Festerwood at Five."

Mike joined WISH-TV in 1967. Widely recognized for his outstanding news coverage and community involvement, Ahern and the WISH-TV news team received the community's prestigious "Caspar" Award for coverage of the blizzard of 1978, which involved more than sixty-seven hours of continuous coverage and essential survival information. Previously, Mike received three "Caspar" Awards for hosting and co-producing WISH-TV's news magazine "30 Minutes." He has also been awarded Indiana’s highest honor, The Sagamore Of The Wabash and he’s a member of the Indiana Broadcasters Association Hall of Fame.

His other awards include several from the Indianapolis Press Club, including recognition for best documentary, best enterprise feature and best historical feature. Readers and editors of both Indianapolis Woman and Indianapolis Monthly magazines named Ahern "Best News Anchor" for ten years in a row. His Christmas special, "A Mike Ahern Christmas Card," was nominated for a national IRIS Award.

Most recently, Mike hosted a daily arts and entertainment feature on WIBC radio entitled “All About Art.”

Mike, a Hoosier native, continues to call Indianapolis home with his wife, Sherry.
