Bulldogs staying hungry despite success

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) - The Butler men’s basketball team has the nation's longest win streak, a perfect conference record and a bid to the NCAA tournament already in the bag. But, Head Coach Brad Steven says, this group of Bulldogs is hungry for more.

“We’re going to play nothing but good teams from here on out. Our guys are going to prepare as well as they can, and that little bit of being uncomfortable is probably a good thing in sports. There's no question about that because then you're always looking in the mirror and trying to get better,” said Stevens.

The only thing standing in the way of Butler's sixth Horizon League Tournament title is Wright State. The Raiders –- unlike the Bulldogs -- will need to win Tuesday to make their way into the field of 65.

"They know they're going to the tournament,” said Wright State head coach Brad Brownell. “Our guys have to play every possession like it's the one that's going to win the game, and if not it may keep you from going to the tournament.”

The Bulldogs say their key to success will be playing the same old Butler basketball that's won them 19-straight games.

“We're not going to change, we're going to keep doing what we do, keep focusing the way we're focusing, keep preparing the way we're preparing and I think that's been the biggest factor in the way we've played this season,” said Sophomore guard Ronald Nored.

The Bulldogs do find themselves in familiar territory. This is the fifth-straight year they’ve made it to the finals of the Horizon League Tournament. But over the past four seasons they've managed just one championship trophy, something they'll be looking to change Tuesday night. Game time is set for 9:00 p.m. at Hinkle Fieldhouse.
