INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) - Despite missing out in the 2012 NCAA Tournament, the Butler Bulldogs are making national headlines once again.
Sources tell WISH-TV sports director Anthony Calhoun that the Atlantic 10 Conference reached out to Butler University about joining the conference.
ESPN reports Butler University is interested in joining the Atlantic 10 Conference in all sports except football as a replacement for Big East bound Temple.
A move to the Atlantic 10 would carry a step up in competition for the Bulldogs. They would face Xavier, Saint Louis, Dayton and UMass on a regular basis.
Sources tell WISH-TV that the conference is looking for an answer from Butler rather quickly.
Butler, who made the NCAA Championship game in 2010 and again in 2011, did not receive a bid to the big dance in 2012.
