INDIANAPOLIS (AP) - West Virginia's best season in 51 years came to an inglorious end at the Final Four with a rare off-night on defense and an injury to its best player.

The Mountaineers gave up 13 3-pointers and lost senior forward Da'Sean Butler to a knee injury Saturday night as their season ended with a 78-57 loss to Duke in the NCAA semifinals.

Back in the Final Four for the first time since 1959, defensive-minded West Virginia (31-7) was hurt by Duke inside and couldn't get out on the Blue Devils' shooters, allowing Jon Scheyer and Nolan Smith to shoot 9 of 18 from 3-point range.

Butler, West Virginia's leading scorer, had to be helped off the court with 8:59 left after a hard collision with Duke's Brian Zoubek under the basket.
