AUSTIN, Texas (KXAN) - Talk about leaving a paper trail.
A 51-year-old shopper at an East Austin grocery was arrested on Friday after trying to whiz past a security officer. But the officer managed to stall the man long enough to discover that his backpack was flush with bathroom tissue.
According to a police affidavit released Monday, the H-E-B at 2701 E. Seventh St. had rolled out a plan to wipe out restroom theft by placing electronic detection devices on the toilet paper.
The security officer called police, who arrested the man, who now faces a state jail felony charge. And because the suspect has a prior record, he could be sent back to the can.
