GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (CNN/KKCO) - A medical marijuana growing site turned out to be the source of an unusual odor floating through a Census Bureau office in Colorado, police say.

The pot was growing in a building next door. The scent of marijuana was apparently seeping through the vents of the Grand Junction office building.

Police searched the complex and found pot and state registration cards for medical users.

The owner of the building told police he was a licensed grower.

No one was arrested, but police are investigating.
