BOUNTIFUL, Utah (AP) — A semitrailer carrying 45 tons of sand rolled into a house in Utah, flattening a vehicle parked in the driveway. Residents eating breakfast in the house were not injured.
Police say the truck was carrying sand uphill to the nearby Bountiful Ridge Golf Course early Thursday when the driver unsuccessfully tried to shift down. Bountiful police Sgt. Andrew Bryson says the truck's brakes went out and it rolled about half a block into the house.
The vehicle that was crushed had been sold a day earlier and was waiting for the new owner.
Bryson says the truck driver had proper permits to carry the load.
